Demand for commercial real estate along George Street in Sydney could soon be in even higher demand as plans for a dedicated light rail and pedestrian boulevard receive significant praise.
A panel of prominent Sydneysiders gathered to discuss the plans and were apparently more than happy with the proposal that have so far been put forward.
Tourism and Transport Forum Australia explained that there was unanimous support for the proposal - something manager for transport Trent Zimmermann said is " about as common as a solar eclipse".
"It's not every day a local council, even one as big as the City of Sydney, puts $180 million on the table, it's not every day we have such strong agreement between businesses and levels of government," he commented.
It is believed that the measures will especially benefit tourists, who were found not to stray far beyond the CBD when they visit Sydney, bringing advantages to those with a retail lease in the area.
Earlier this month, lord mayor Clover Moore said the steps were important to ensure Sydney keeps up with other major world cities such as London and New York.
