Commercial property holders in Sydney's inner-west will benefit from a new website to launch Newtown local businesses into the public domain - boosting the area's reputation as one of the city's most popular destinations.
The new Newtown Precinct Business Association (NPBA), which goes live today (September 17), is a joint collaboration by the City of Sydney and Marrickville Council - showcasing the colourful communities of Newtown, Enmore and Erskineville.
"This new website offers a one-stop shop for interstate and overseas visitors, as well as locals, to discover everything Newtown has to offer. The initiative will strengthen the entire community by supporting local businesses and encouraging networking opportunities," City of Sydney chief executive Monica Barone explained.
The rich culture and broad range of quality eateries makes Newtown one of the most sought after areas for commercial retail property, with the suburb boasting a reputation as one of the city's most lively and exciting postcodes.
NPBA chairperson Liz Dickson said the new website was a major boon to local enterprises, drawing more visitors to the area.
"Our website will go a long way in giving this support and generating more business," Ms Dickson explained.
Last year, a staggering 3.6 million web searches were conducted by people searching for more information about Newtown, indicating strong interest in the suburb that will only be enhanced by the website.
