LJ Hooker Commercial bolsters property management division

LJ Hooker Commercial Perth has announced two key appointments as part of its long-held expansion plans and preparation for the state’s looming economic upturn.

Former Savills Director Mark Townsend has brought 25 years of experience to LJ Hooker Commercial Perth’s newly created Head of Property Management role. Having personally managed more than 50 commercial properties across Perth – including Central Park for JLL and the Forrest Centre for CBRE – Mr Townsend has a rich background overseeing premium grade assets for institutional, international and local investors, through to smaller commercial, retail and industrial properties for high net worth clients.

Also joining the boutique team is CBD, West Perth and industrial specialist Tami Bennett. The former JLL facilities manager has been appointed Senior Property Manager for the West Perth-based agency, focusing on asset and tenant management for LJ Hooker Commercial Perth’s retail landlords.

Economic green shoots have appeared in WA’s economy in the last six months, including major new mining commitments from BHP and Rio Tinto; procurement for the METRONET project; year-on-year absorption of office space; and the first annualised price improvement for the apartment market since 2014.

LJ Hooker Commercial Perth Principal Vincent Siciliano said sentiment was improving across all commercial sectors ahead of an anticipated upswing.

“LJ Hooker Commercial Perth is now in its sixth year of business, and part of our long-term strategy was to strengthen our property management offering at this juncture in our growth plan,” said Mr Siciliano.

“Opportunistically, our plan has aligned with the first green shoots emerging in WA’s economy. The upswing will be a gradual-burn, but we’re receiving a lot of enquiry for investors and tenants around opportunities in Perth and that sentiment is reflected in falling vacancy rates.

“We’re positioning ourselves to cater for the emerging demand and having specialists of Mark and Tami’s calibre join the team instils confidence in our clients.”

LJ Hooker Commercial Managing Director Mathew Tiller welcomed the appointments.

“Perth will be an important market for our network in the immediate term as the resources sector starts to scale up again,” said Mr Tiller.

“LJ Hooker Commercial Perth is anticipating the imminent need so they’re resourced with the best expertise to accommodate the changing economic scene.”
