Commercial property owners 'will benefit' from Caloundra facelift

October 24, 2011

With the revitalisation of Bulcock Street in Caloundra well underway, businesses in the surrounding areas are set to benefit, according to one local councillor.

Debbie Blumel, major projects portfolio councillor, remarked that the works done on the project so far have "given the area a real lift".

The Bullock Street revitalisation program is now in Stage 1B and the main area of focus is outside the Subway sandwich shop on Otranto Avenue.

Works - which include the replacement of the curb, as well as resealing the road and the installation of new seating and street furniture - are set to be complete before the end of the year.

When the works reach their second phase in the new year, plants, pavement art and seating near the entrance to the IGA supermarket will further enhance the street's appearance and support local businesses.

"By delivering major streetscapes and redevelopments, council is not only helping to boost our economy but also continue to deliver great places to live and enjoy," said Blumel.

Earlier this month, Sunshine Coast Council announced other improvements that will support commercial property owners and local businesses - including the creation of a new village square on Lexie Street and upgrades to some retail properties.
